Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW is one of Switzerland's largest multidisciplinary universities of applied sciences, with over 14'000 students and 3'400 faculty and staff.
The School of Health Sciences is one of the largest educational centres for health professionals in Switzerland. On our campus in the heart of Winterthur we offer degree programmes, continuing education programmes, as well as research and development opportunities in the following disciplines: nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, public health, and biomedical laboratory diagnostics.
The Public Health research unit (FPH) constitutes a multidisciplinary unit including researchers in public health, medicine, sociology, psychology or economics, pursuing applied research from a life course perspective.
The research project "Home caRE workers' Health risks of Exposure to heAT waves (REHEAT)" aims to investigate the effect of high ambient temperatures on (older) workers in the Swiss healthcare sector. Using a "Living Lab" approach, we develop and evaluate measures to reduce heat-related health risks. The project is a collaboration between three research institutions, ZHAW, SUPSI and SwissTPH, and is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
We offer the opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary project in the highly relevant field of occupational health risks due to climate change. Researchers from two well-established aca-demic institutions - the ZHAW Institute of Public Health and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (associated institute of the University of Basel, located in Allschwil BL) - will supervise the PhD. You will benefit from the integration in both institutions, and you will therefore be able to work in Winterthur and as well as in Allschwil (approx. 80% / 20%). En-rollment at the University of Basel and participation in the PhD program Health Sciences (PPHS) at the University of Basel is expected.
Remuneration is based on the regulation of the SNSF.
ZHAW is committed to gender-mixed and diverse teams in order to promote equality, diversity and innovation. We are also committed to a barrier-free university. We therefore motivate people with disabilities to apply.
What you can expect
We offer working conditions and terms of employment commensurate with higher education institutions and actively promote personal development for staff in leadership and non-leadership positions.
