SENIOR ENGINEER DIGITAL ORTHOPAEDIC SURG

As a senior engineer, you will work directly with a team of experienced engineers working to design and validate next generation navigation and robotic platforms used within the medical device space. The Senior Engineer is responsible for contributing to the architecture, development, surgical workflow integration and execution of all aspects of the navigation and robotic designs. This individual will also be responsible for potentially leading some or our external partnerships in the area of ??navigation and robotics.

Depuy Synthes is seeking a highly motivated individual that is a self-starter and is passionate about designing elegant, integrated solutions for advanced, complex clinical robotic systems.

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Lead internal and external partnership R&D programs
  • Design and develop products, including software as a medical device
  • Use technical aptitude for the engineering and development of robotics systems and medical devices
  • Operate with latitude contributing to or leading multi-disciplined and surgeon project core teams
  • Create and monitor technical aspects of the project
  • Understand and utilize design controls for all technical aspects of product development including the development of design inputs and outputs and the verification and validation of medical devices including software
  • Analyze and evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing products
  • Solve design and manufacturing related problems
  • Train, develop, and evaluate more junior engineers, contractors, engineering Co-Op students and interns

Qualifications

We would love to hear from YOU, if you have:

  • Master's degree in engineering with 4 years medical device experience or 6 years of experience in a regulated industry, Ph.D. with less experience will be considered
  • 6 years of related work experience in a regulated industry, Orthopedic experience preferred
  • The successful candidate must possess highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • (with strong interpersonal and critical-thinking skills), including the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Relevant experience working with multi-disciplinary product development teams and external partners is required
  • Experience with software and robotics systems development for medical devices development is a strongly preferred
  • Ability to apply theoretical technical principles to product design
  • Ability to effectively communicate critical design / project information to internal and external customers
  • Ability to apply 3-dimensional modeling and drafting conventions to design projects is preferred
  • Ability to apply FDA QSR / ISO9000 design control regulations to projects which result in meeting FDA / Company guidelines and policies
  • DEX or Six Sigma Blackbelt experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks and guide or mentor others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially when describing technical concepts to surgeons, sales personnel, and senior management
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication also with local as well as international peers.
  • Highly recognized as experienced and professional engineer by peers
  • Must be able to work independently, provide multiple solutions to problems and make systems work together
  • Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative, resourceful, insightful, personable and articulate
  • Must possess strong leadership, management and teamwork qualities
  • Business fluent English language skills
  • 25% travel requirements
  • Demonstrated project execution from start to bring to market
