Lead Engineer

The Sierre site with 520 employees operates a range of production lines as well as being the home of a global research and development center.

Key deliverables include the following:

  • Lead and support development and implementation of new rolled aluminum products to maintain Novelis’ leadership in the fast-growing electric vehicle automotive market.
  • Lead and support enhancement of Novelis’ existing automotive products and processes to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Develop and enhance Novelis’ network at our partners and customers to drive business development.
  • Lead projects in collaboration with our R&D and Customer Solution Centers to develop tailored solution for out automotive customers.
  • Provide expertise to support Operations in improving product quality and process efficiency.
  • Interact on all manufacturing processes from casting to final application to customers (car manufacturers)
  • Provide expertise to develop solutions meeting rapidly evolving customer demands.
  • Protect and enhance Novelis IP through sustained innovations and strive to turn innovative science and technology into robust, cost effective and sustainable solutions.
  • As a technology leader, spearhead collaborations with external partners to drive business critical technology development that has wide ranging impact in the aluminum industry.
  • Participate in technology exchange and development projects between regions (USA-Asia-Europe)

Qualifications

  • Leadership and direct management experience driving industrialization of materials technology
  • Able to convince and create team spirit in complex projects
  • Project management experience, ideally cross-functional, cross-regional technology projects
  • Dynamic, flexible and team player with a natural customer orientation
  • Automotive Customer Relationship Management track record
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in an automotive related discipline. Other engineering or science degrees combined with work experience may be considered.
  • Fluency in German and English are a must, Fluent French is a strong advantage
