Position Summary

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 800 people and is comprised of four Nestlé Institutes: Material Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences and Packaging Sciences. Your main mission will be to manage a science team and to propose and deliver projects in the area of infant and child development, neurocognition and nutrition. You will also ensure resource allocation to activities as well as alignment and prioritization of activities with department and business needs.

A day in the life of a Team Leader in Neurocognition:

Strategy & Operations

  • Ensure scientific strategy for team
  • Support the development and implementation of the short, medium and long-term vision of the department, consistent with business needs for neurocognition and in alignment with Nestlé Research model (scientific strategy development)
  • Successfully develop and transfer breakthrough innovation across the organisation


  • Bring in your international experience in R&D operations to lead and develop people of different levels of seniority
  • Manage resources and budget requirements
  • Develop people by coaching and guiding, ensure succession planning
  • Manage competences for current and future needs of the neurocognition group


  • Communicate and convince scientific and non-scientific audiences
  • Ensure identification of new ideas and opportunities for team
  • Execute project deliverables according to project planning and in collaboration with internal and external partners
What will make you successful:
  • Scientific background (PhD), preferably in neuroscience, cognitive science, neurobiology or equivalent
  • People and team management experience within an R&D environment
  • Demonstrated science strategy development
  • Successfully led and coordinated research projects
  • Scientific publication track record
  • Industry experience required ideally in FMCG
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Analytical thinking
  • Strong ability to impact and convince others
  • Strong ability to encourage and inspire others
