Vice President Environmental Affairs
Reporting directly to the Chairman of the group, you will be responsible for any aspects related to Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability within the fleet of over 70 river vessels and 6 ocean vessels. The person we are looking for will work closely with the Executive Management & Board Members on the strategy of the Group. He/she will be leading implementation of environmental aspects (Technical and Hospitality) of the strategy.
This demanding position is based in the Operational Head Office in Basel/Switzerland and involves responsibili-ties focusing on the following aspects:
Group responsibility and key influencer for any aspect related to Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability
Development of strategic framework and support of operation teams implementing a comprehensive environmental program
Development of (long term) fuel & energy efficiency strategy considering cutting edge research, social trends, impact on guest experiences and regulatory framework
Identification and evaluation of investment opportunities based on economical and ecological aspects
Responsible to ensure that all our investments, services and products are in line with global and regional environmental law's and regulations
Responsible for waste management, water conservation, Ballast water Management, Water treatment and Recycling
Ensuring that the expedition product is environmentally fully compliant and recognizes us a leading edge company when it comes to environmental considerations
Relationship/Network Management with governmental bodies, industry and relevant associations
This highly varied and demanding range of duties requires someone with strong conceptual skills, leadership and the ability to get things done, with the following profile:
Master degree in Business Administration or Master in Environmental Studies from an renowned university
At least 10 years of practical experience in international Sustainability, Recycling and Corporate Social Responsibility projects
Understanding of/Experience in the hospitality sector or in the cruise industry (US experience an asset as the guests of our customer are mainly from the US)
Proven track-record of successful and sustainable environmental project implementation with hands-on involvement (ideally Plastic Recycling, Waste Management)
Experienced and emphatic executive leader (ideally on Corporate C-Level) with ability to communicate on Chairman/Government level with self-confidence and assertiveness
Ability to assess investment opportunities from an owner's point of view with the necessary financial skills
Be a strong communicator and possess an ability to develop trusting and credible relationship at all levels of the business and have a sense for marketing
Access to an interesting network of environmental experts, up-to-date research and projects
Excellent English skills (written & verbal), native speaker an asset
