We are looking for an

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Director of Communications, the postholder will be responsible for maintaining and developing IFPMA’s media relations, social and digital media platforms to support programmatic, policy, organizational and campaign priorities. The Media & Communications Manager’s role will play a central role in leveraging industry’s position as a thought leader in global health through effective use of external communications tools and messaging. Create opportunities for IFPMA’s priority areas in media, globally and in key target countries (Africa region).

 

Core skills

 

  • Minimum 5 years communications experience, Degree level education
  • Excellent understating of traditional and social media platforms, experience in developing online campaigns, website content management, and new and emerging media platforms
  • Fluency in English is essential, other languages would be an advantage
  • An effective team player who has the ability to connect with internal teams and develop synchronized external messages
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse professional environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in global health would be an advantage 

 

Job Description

 

Media Relations;

  • Lead implementation of IFPMA media strategy (traditional and digital) to achieve maximum measurable impact on IFPMA’s profile, specifically on programmatic, policy and campaigns
  • Build and maintain relations with traditional and specialized media (journalists, broadcasters and commentators) to increase IFPMA’s media profile in Geneva, globally and in LMIC countries in Asia and Africa; develop a media outreach plan
  • Draft media announcements/press releases responses in consultation with policy leads
  • Support preparation of background notes, speeches and talking points for public appearances of Senior Leadership Team
  • Pitch stories to journalists and organize press briefings, as directed
  • Maintain up to date media and IFPMA contacts’ lists; manage IFPMA photo database
  • Actively create media visibility opportunities (radio, TV and print media interviews, op-eds) for IFPMA’s Director General and senior leadership team
  • Actively support Comms Director in media relations development, crisis communications including internal media capacity building activities (trainings etc.)

Social and Digital Media;

  • Implement Social Media Strategy as a key component of the IFPMA’s overall Communications Strategy; Manage content for IFPMA social media platforms
  • Develop targeted social media campaigns for IFPMA’s products (reports, policy briefs), events, and milestone days; support the work of IFPMA programme and policy teams
  • Manage IFPMA’s social media community and demonstrate an upward growth in IFPMA’s audience on Twitter, Linked In and other relevant existing and emerging platforms
  • Promote search engine optimization and provide monitoring and analysis to streamline performance for better outcomes
  • Keep up-to-date with new trends, developments and opportunities in the digital space and recommend how IFPMA can exploit them to help achieve its corporate goals
  • Create innovative content for social media (story board, infographics, short videos)
  • Build relationships with social media editors at leading news and media organizations, help secure external placement of IFPAM’s content and enhance coverage
  • Manage access to IFPMA’s social media accounts; Train staff on social media use
  • Ensure IFPMA corporate website and other organizational media platforms (Global Health Progress etc.) are up to date and regularly leveraged on social media platforms
  • Engage and manage external agencies/consultants (graphic designers, infographics, videographers, PR agencies, event organizers), where needed
  • Flexibility and adaptability to perform other duties as and when required
