Trading Operator - Fuel Oil & Crude

Job description:

Our client is an Energy Trading group in Zug.

On behalf of our client, Swisslinx is looking for a Trading Operator to join an established and growing trading team in Zug. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full operational execution of oil cargoes, ensuring efficient, compliant, and timely delivery of trades across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all operational aspects of fuel oil and crude oil cargoes from deal confirmation to final settlement.
  • Liaise with traders, counterparties, shipowners, agents, terminals, and inspectors to ensure smooth execution of physical movements.
  • Prepare and review shipping and trade documentation, including bills of lading, cargo manifests, customs documents, and letters of credit.
  • Monitor voyage progress and handle vessel nominations, laytime calculations, and demurrage claims.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, internal policies, and international regulations.
  • Identify and resolve any operational or logistical issues that may arise, communicating clearly and promptly with all parties involved.
  • Work closely with finance, risk, and compliance teams to support accurate and timely P&L reporting.
  • Contribute to process improvements by leveraging experience and best practices in physical operations.

Your Profile

  • Prior experience in oil trading operations, preferably for dirty petroleum products.
  • Strong understanding of shipping operations, Incoterms, and international trading documentation.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to handle multiple cargoes simultaneously.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially minded approach to operations.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with trading or ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Swiss/EUR national or an existing and valid working permit for Switzerland.
