Patent Engineer (100%)

Your tasks
We are looking to expand our Intellectual Property team with a Patent Engineer, to drive key activities in expanding business segments of the Holcim Group and to further support our sustainability ambition.
The Patent Engineer supports the development of the patent portfolio of the Group, in collaboration with the business segments and the operations in countries. As part of the patent team, the Patent Engineer also supports freedom to operate and patent validity analyses.
The Patent Engineer collaborates closely with the other members of the Intellectual Property team on the following activities:
- Review and analyse invention disclosures
- Carry out patentability assessments and proposing patenting approaches
- Coordinate the drafting of new patent applications with external patent attorneys
- Support external patent law firms during examination proceedings
- Carry out freedom to operate analysis
- Manage patent portfolios
Education/Qualifications
- University degree (MSc or PhD) in chemistry, physical chemistry, or material sciences
- Further training in patent law (CEIPI or equivalent)
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in the patent field, preferably in the materials industry or adjacent sectors
- Experience in freedom to operate analyses and patentability assessments
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge in data management and data analysis
- Expert knowledge of patent databases
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong capacity to network, collaborate and work across segments and functions
- Cross-functional stakeholder management
- Organisational skills, e.g. strict management of deadlines
Language Requirements
Business fluent in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of German and/or French are an additional asset.
