Job descriptionRole Overview
As an AIX System Engineer, you will strengthen the platform engineering team by maintaining, optimizing and modernizing enterprise environments across AIX and Linux. You will take a hands-on role in platform lifecycle management, infrastructure expansion, automation initiatives and second-level operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain enterprise AIX environments, including LPAR, VIO, NIM and HMC/IVM components
- Operate, maintain and expand Unix/Linux infrastructures, covering storage, network and hardware layers
- Contribute to infrastructure projects and continuous optimization of existing system landscapes
- Provide second-level support, including participation in on-call rotations
- Ensure adherence to security standards, backup strategies and change management processes
- Apply automation practices using Ansible to streamline operational tasks
Expected ProfileYour Profile
You hold a university degree in computer science or an equivalent technical qualification and bring several years of current, hands-on experience working with AIX and Linux system environments. You combine strong analytical skills with a structured, reliable and solution-oriented working style.
Additionally
- Current experience with IBM AIX across versions 7.1 - 7.3, including LPAR/VIO administration
- Experience with enterprise storage technologies (SAN, NFS, GPFS) and virtualization (PowerVM)
- Current Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred), including scripting skills (Shell, Python, Ansible)
- Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes
- Strong problem-solving abilities, capacity to prioritize and ability to work under pressure
- Fluent in English; German is an advantage
- Valid Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship required
- Willingness to work 100% on-site
