Nestlé Research, Vers-chez-les-Blanc, Lausanne, Switzerland 2 years contract Full-time Starting date: as soon as possible
In this role, you will execute projects (or activities within projects) requiring analytical development, analysis and technical assistance for any topics linked to chemical contaminants (pesticides, veterinary drugs, mycotoxins & plant toxins, process contaminants, ...) in food. This involves sample preparation, quantification by mass spectrometry techniques (LC or GC coupled to tandem MS/MS, HRMS or MS/FID), and data processing with subsequent reporting.
A day in a life of a Mass spectrometry Research Assistant:
Develop and validate with lab work fit-for-purpose methods for chemical contaminants in food
Independently organize activities involving a couple of collaborators and carry out experiments
Propose new methodologies & applications, strengthen and renovate existing methods/methodologies
Write Standard Operating Procedures in English language
Transfer methods for routine analysis in Operations and assist end users during method implementation
Establish Nestlé internal network locally or within Operations/R&D or with suppliers of MS instruments
Coach junior technicians, master students and apprentices
What will make you successful
Technical diploma or Bachelor/Master in Chemistry, Life sciences or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of working experience in mass spectrometry-based techniques for chemical contaminants in food, including experience in sample preparation for trace analysis (Quechers, SPE, online LC-GC)
Strong organization and planification skills
Service oriented mindset to efficiently support our Operational and R&D strategy
Good oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory. French is a plus
